Chris Dyson


My purpose or mission is to ‘Leave it better’. This is the ‘driver’, integrated into all areas of my life, from my role as a coach, where I seek to leave every conversation with a positive outcome for my client, to the decisions I make that impact on the wider world.

My early career, through retail distribution, logistics and general management and an MBA, led to board level roles and managing directorships. I have experience with MBO, turnaround, growth and international merger. A desire for entrepreneurial independence led me to experiment with sole tradership, partnership, SMEs, consultancy, start up, wind up and sale. Throughout my career, my overriding interest has been people, which is how I discovered my flair for coaching.

20 years as an executive coach and 10 years of charity trusteeship have equipped me with incisive diagnostic skills balancing factual analysis with insight, emotional intelligence and intuition. Whilst I have identified emergent risks and governance failures and given early warning to leadership teams when their individual and collective performance created risk, I also have a record of unlocking potential, inspiring change and improving performance for individual leaders and their teams across diverse sectors, organisational types and cultures in the UK, USA and Europe.

Working with CEOs, leaders and the emerging talent in those organisations I wondered what could be achieved if I could bring such people together to share good practice, to inspire, advise, support and challenge each other.

As a Vistage Chair I am currently building such a group, based in London.

My interests include fitness, technology, innovation and creativity and when I have time I struggle with watercolour and sketching. I’m married to Claire, who is a counsellor, and we share a passion for motorcycling and touring. Motorcycling and its independent ethos is an important part of my identity. I work with Surrey Police BikeSafe team and support a charity coaching fellow motorcyclists in safer, advanced riding skills, leaving them as better riders.
