David brings a unique wealth of experience and wide ranging skills to his Vistage group. With his successful career in business, football and charity, he has a reputation as an effective and engaging Chairman and leader; and as an authority on coach education, leadership training and personal development.
Throughout his local, national and international career, David has championed growth through people who share his commitment to continual improvement. He is now bringing this critical success factor to the first Vistage group to be formed in Suffolk. His group comprises ambitious, group focused decision makers who are life-long learners and are open to being challenged in a totally confidential, supportive and caring environment.
Early in his career David started two food businesses before successfully selling both to concentrate on his football, sporting and charity interests. His extensive football legacy includes serving the FA, the Football League and Ipswich Town. His charity work includes founding Ipswich Town Community Trust, the Suffolk Community Foundation and he now Chairs UK Community Foundations.
Prior to setting up his Vistage group he has, for the last 8 years, been founding Chairman and the driving force behind the creation of St George’s Park, the FA’s National Hub for Coach Education.
David, a Deputy Lieutenant of Suffolk, was made CBE in 2013 in recognition of his commitment to the business of football, community and charity. He is currently a Regional Chairman of Coutts Bank, NED of the Strategic Consultancy 21st Club and food manufacture, Stokes Sauces and his consultancy appointments include Onside Law and Debate Mate. Living in Suffolk with his wife Mona, David likes to relax in the country with his family, dogs and his love of gardening and sport.
