Is this a franchise, or is financial investment required?
No, this is NOT a franchise and there is no financial investment involved. However, we do require a £3,000 deposit from all new Chair Candidates. The process to become a Vistage Chair is extremely thorough and involves commitment from both sides.
Vistage commits to several training workshops, the production of personalised marketing materials and significant input from Vistage staff and existing Vistage Chairs during the first year of your new Vistage Chair Practice. The £3,000 deposit is payable before you start the training programme and is refunded in full if you start your Vistage Group within six months of starting Vistage Chair training.
Will I be employed by Vistage?
No. Vistage Chairs are self-employed, and run their own Vistage Chair Practice Business. A legal agreement exists between Vistage and a Vistage Chair. Vistage Chairs can operate as sole traders or limited companies and their likely earnings will require them to be VAT registered.
Is this a full-time or a part-time job?
To run a full Vistage CEO group (16 members) takes about seven to eight business days a month. The initial six months as a Vistage Chair involves significantly more time than this, taking into account the training, the recruitment activities and other group launch actions.
How much can I earn?
There is a fee structure table that we will share with you once you have triggered the application process. Potential earnings depend on how many members you have in your group, and how many groups you run.
Is a Vistage Chair a consultant?
No, a Vistage Chair is a combination of a Coach, Confidant, Facilitator, Recruiter and Selector of members.
Will this role require a lot of travel?
No, you would be doing all of your work locally in your local area as the member meetings are held on a rotating host basis at your members’ offices. Work locally, impact globally.
What on-going training/support is offered?
The Vistage Chair community is very active. We hold quarterly national Chair meetings and workshops which typically last two days. Further workshops are available at our HQ. We use an online private intranet that hosts discussions, best-practices, chair tools etc.
Chairs within a local area often meet informally to share news, ideas and experiences. We hold an annual Chair conference which includes education and an awards evening. Chairs also have a named HQ support person who manages a lot of the back-office administration involved in the Chair role.
Can I talk to other Chairs or Members before making a decision?
We insist on this as part of our selection process. You can ask any question and take as much time as you need to explore whether Vistage is for you. We will also invite you to Vistage events so you can see what we do and you can meet members of our community informally.
