Vistage has helped me to achieve personal and business goals by actually forcing me out of the day-to-day and into an environment where discussing issues and holding each other to account becomes a priority.

Realsafe Technologies focus on developing safety-based technology. Their first smartphone app – Realrider, tracks motorcyclists and if a crash is detected, connects directly to the emergency services. Zoe Farrington joined vistage in September 2015.

It was whilst working on a project with the Great North Air Ambulance that Zoe saw a business opportunity. One of the biggest problems in the event of a motorbike accident is that the rider can be thrown far from their vehicle. “Trying to locate the rider within the golden hour is the absolute imperative”.

With this in mind, Zoe and her business partner created the Realrider app, now used by bikers all over the world to track rides and stay safe.

With the support of a Vistage peer advisory group, Zoe was able to scale this new business quickly, meeting with other like-minded business leaders to work through issues and challenges she was facing. Zoe explains,  “I guess my biggest reasoning at the time was that I wanted to sanity check and validate some of my business decisions. It was important to me that our board saw us as being in control and credible. That whole journey and learning has definitely come through being part of Vistage.”

As well as new learnings, Vistage has also been crucial to Zoe’s determination and vigour as a leader. “Vistage has played an imperative role certainly in my business in the last 12 months. I have been pushed to the limits with various issues and it has made me question if I am right for this business?”

Thankfully, with the support of her peer group and with regular one-to-ones with her Vistage Chair Andrew Marsh, Zoe dug deep and was able to drive change forward. The Vistage group was not only able to support Zoe with her business decisions but also ensure she took action, holding her to account.

“Vistage has helped me to achieve personal and business goals by actually forcing me out of the day-to-day and into an environment where discussing issues and holding each other to account actually becomes a priority.”
