Following a successful 35 year corporate career including 20 years with profit and loss responsibility, Mike is now a skilled coach, consultant and non-exec director, having completed successful executive, non-exec, coaching and consultancy projects with larger SME coaching clients since 2006. He currently holds 2 NED positions.
An experienced Chairman and Chief Executive with an extensive international track record including listed plc board experience, he has also managed a plc division with 16 operations in 11 countries, delivering strong sales and profits growth. A proven business builder with wide experience of global trading issues, including corporate recovery, turning 8 businesses from loss to profit.
Mike is an energetic leader with broad experience in diverse business sectors, sizes and cultures. Equally adept working with small, medium or large businesses, during 4 years commissioned service in the RAF, he was awarded the coveted Sword of Honour when his leadership qualities were formally recognised. He has also been a successful Owner Manager who in 2002 acquired a complex technology group from a struggling plc, a project involving heavy operational and financial re-structuring for value creation, core business stabilisation and significant value realisation on exit.
His academic and professional qualifications include an engineering degree, MBA, 2 coaching qualifications, and chartered engineer and marketeer. Mike admits to being competitive and his sporting achievements in cricket and rugby have been at county level. He says that his international property portfolio developed accidentally when a hobby “got out of control” and this is now managed by helpers.
Married for 38 years, Mike has 4 sons who are variously engaged in careers in the accountancy, legal, banking and property services sectors. Mike’s passions are to help others to develop both professionally and personally, watching most sports, consuming fabulous food and wine, restoring pianos, music, theatre, film, humour and great conversation
