Paul Johnson

Kent, Vistage Chair since 2015

Paul is an accomplished CEO, MD, marketer and strategist; having worked for over 35 years within the varied and exciting sectors that support healthcare. He is a ‘Southerner’ born and bred, and once again finds himself in Kent, where he brought up his family whilst transforming businesses.

Throughout more than 20 years’ experience in his CEO roles, gained on both sides of the Atlantic, Paul has achieved success in many differing and equally challenging commercial environments; facing rapidly expanding market opportunities, the need for major restructuring activity, mergers and acquisitions, raising finance, and building and mentoring high performing management teams. He’s led businesses in start-up mode, as well as teams delivering revenue in excess of £200m.

Paul’s experience includes leading a new division of a US based patient centred dotcom company, where he built a multimillion dollar business selling services to a new audience, and later raised capital to facilitate the company’s next phase of development.

He acquired a Kent based business and took it into the global market while reinventing its production systems, increasing productivity and delivering competitive advantage. As the Managing Director of the UK’s leading provider of information to the Pharmaceutical industry, Paul successfully reinvented the offerings the company delivered in response to changing customer needs and rapidly changing supply conditions.

Paul believes with a passion that the best results come from clarity of vision at the top, dogged focus and empowering a team of ordinary people to deliver extraordinary results. Throughout his years in business, like all of us, he has often faced challenges, and knows what it is like to be in the lonely chair at the top of an organisation. He wishes he had known about Vistage when he was in those positions! He says, “It was something that was always missing, meeting with peers who had no vested interest, but with the experience and knowledge that I could have pulled on to help me think about alternate scenarios for action.”

Paul has been requested to Chair a Vistage peer advisory group in Kent and is excited at the prospect of creating a safe space where business leaders can use their combined expertise to maximise both their business and personal potential.
