Different Together : The Benefits of Diversity
There have been many well-intentioned initiatives to address the challenge of ‘diversity and inclusion’ within our organisations and yet, things seem more fractured, and volatile than ever.
At best we have arrived at a ‘political correctness’ stalemate that seems to have push authentic dialogue and belonging even further into the corner. Research on globalization shows that, in spite of a world more connected than ever before, nationalism and tribalism are on the rise.
We are convinced that the biggest leadership and organizational challenge in the immediate future will be finding a way to lead difference differently.
An extensive 2017 global research by the Leadership Institute in London, senior leaders identified employee engagement as their top priority. Our own findings taken from across sectors / industries and continents confirms this to be the case with the implication that we need to find better ways of embracing difference and unlocking the benefits that diversity offers. We believe we have found the way to do this given the context of a willing and supportive partner (client).
1. Context: a dynamic world
This session ‘sets the scene’ and encapsulates what TomorrowToday is known for globally.
2. How We See: our lenses
This session is the heart of the framework. It can be completely tailored to the needs and constraints of the client /programme. The depth of engagement with the topic will largely be determined by the time given to this section. Lenses can be ‘age, gender, race, religion, personality, education etc
3. What we See: our judgments
4. What we Don’t See: our blind spots
5. Sense-Making Patterns: giving meaning to experience.
Outcomes: As a result participants will…
- Build teams that deliberately embrace difference,
- Seeing the bigger picture that this is more valuable than teams that seek ‘alignment’ or ‘consensus’
- Increaded business performance
- Staff retention security
- Increased team performance
- Resilience within the team and individuals
Different Together will equip teams and the leaders to unlock the power of being ‘different together’. It provides a framework that cuts through the difficulties, provides practical and insightful tools for genuine engagement of difference, and ensures that the conversation is placed in the correct context of our fast-paced world.
