Making the Artificial Intelligent – Keynote
A keynote is a speech or presentation that establishes the main underlying theme of a conference or event, usually to a large audience, this keynote can be delivered in 20, 40 or 60 minutes.
In this keynote I begin by taking the audience back to first principles to help them reframe what AI means and what may be possible. I do this from the perspective of a scientist and so demonstrate the challenges faced by technologists currently making bold claims related to the possibilities and timeframes for the development of AI. A picture of AI and its future applications is then presented that is positive and based on some of the nuanced and mysterious factors that makes real humans intelligent. The talk ends by considering the idea of “combinational creativity” which I believe has yet to be fully appreciated in our industries generally nor in the field of AI specifically.
