Reading Someone Before You Shake Hands
Imagine if you knew what makes someone tick before they even speak to you.
Imagine if you knew the words and images that would inspire them to action.
Imagine having a sense of their strengths and weaknesses within seconds.
We do business with people and the more we understand our colleagues and clients the greater our chances of success. Companies have used systems such as Myers-Briggs, Belbin, DiSC and Colour Preferences for a long time. This system is rather different in that it focusses purely on the “hardware” of a person – the human body. Each type in this system has innate strengths and weaknesses and under stress hardware will run the show. By examining physical clues we can quickly determine the type of person we are communicating with and build rapport and trust more easily. Members have used the insights from this work to great effect in client relationships and improving team dynamics. John has 30 years’ experience with this discipline and presents in a lively, humorous and thought provoking manner.
The system is revealed in a clear and precise manner, each type is explored in detail using examples from history, participant’s own lives and contemporary culture. We look at the ideal occupations for each type – their “right seat on the bus”. Attendees can create an ideal company using the system, we also examine specific key words and concepts which positively engage each type. The relationships and misunderstandings which arise naturally between types are addressed and solutions are explored. Each participant has the option to discover their own type and look at the implications this has in their personal and professional life.
There is a strong thread of humour running through the session; nothing is funnier than human nature!
Attendees come away with practical knowledge of the system and immediate applications in areas such as client relationships, conflict resolution and team dynamics. The number of “Ahas” can be extraordinary; this information is fascinating, for some it is life changing. This system can help put into concrete terms insights we have into others but do not have a context for. On a personal level, participants come to greater acceptance of themselves and other people. Once we see the influence one’s type has it becomes easy to let go of expecting others to be different. We can stop banging our head against a wall trying to get someone to make an unsustainable change. Professionally the amount of money and energy saved when we find the right type for the job is enormous.
This workshop is also suitable for a retreat session with additional focus on relationships.
