Giles Watkins graduated with a BSs (Hons) in Economics from the University of Bristol before joining Shell International. In a Global career spanning 20 years he grew businesses in sales, marketing & oil trading roles followed by general management positions, primarily in Asia Pacific. In 2008 Giles joined McKisney in Indonesia as an expert advisor, and became Managing Director of Coats PLC’s business in Sri Lanka before being appointed Director of Coats’ start-up Global industrial services business.
During his final years in the corporate world Giles was selected to study for an Executive Masters in Coaching and Consulting for Change at INSEAD in Singapore. As part of this programme he wrote a thesis exploring his own sleep issues that led to numerous invitations to speak in the UK, Europe and Asia. Giles was then invited to turn this into a book. Positive Sleep was published in the UK in September 2019 and in the US this November.
Giles focus through his work is now on enabling business leaders solve problems, achieve balance, deliver superior business results and sleep better at night.
Giles lives in Primrose Hill, London. He is a keen cricket fan, both watching his 13 year old and playing for the Primrose Hill Elephants, a veterans team, and is a member of the MCC. Giles is part of the extended leadership team of Cricket Without Boundaries, a charity that uses cricket to deliver HIV/AIDs awareness messages in sub-Saharan Africa. He is also a member of Hampstead Theatre, the Belsize Community Choir and Chatham House. Giles chairs the Primrose Hill Summer Lecture series, which raises funds for local working with youth at risk and the homeless.
