Horses for Courses® Peer Group Retreats

Overview:

Horses for Courses® uses equine assisted learning techniques to raise personal awareness of core interpersonal and leadership skills. We run Bespoke Experiential Retreat Experiences for peer group chairman and their members. Our programmes offer a unique approach to personal and business development.

We have been working with horses in this way since 2003 and are one of the oldest established providers of these impactful experiential programmes. Our powerful programmes provide you with a vertical learning opportunity, giving you immediate and unbiased feedback on how you connect and engage both with yourself and others. Our multi-sensory experiences amplify, accelerate and anchor your learning, creating lasting change.

Understanding and becoming skilled at relating to horses has proven parallels to core interpersonal and leadership skills. Our impactful programmes provide you with the opportunity to work with horses at liberty from the ground. Through a range of experiential learning techniques, you can assertively explore and raise your personal awareness of previously untapped, internal resources.

Why Horses?

Because horses are individuals, it is easy to make connections between communicating with them and communicating with people. Horses are experts at reading body language, their survival depends on it. By taking away the 7% of communication that is verbal, members are able to concentrate on how they can use their body language to communicate, rapport build, lead and influence effectively.

Horses have no preconceived ideas; they are not influenced by who you are, your job title, the house you live in, the car you drive, the clothes you wear, the holiday you went on, or the size of your bank account. They live in the moment and will give you immediate and honest feedback about how you are relating to them. They don’t separate their emotions from their behaviour and they will read straight through any smoke screens that you may be putting up. The way we approach horses often mirrors, and acts as a metaphor for, how we handle other relationships and interactions.

Horses live in a fluid social group (a herd) and play “push and be pushed” to establish a hierarchy. Learning and observing their herd dynamics provides valuable insights into “authentic” leadership and effective teamwork.

Horses are prey animals and humans are predators. Our hardwiring is completely different. Mastering how we can find a common ground for understanding and communicating opens up the dynamic opportunity of learning how to communicate with anyone, in any given circumstance.

Outcomes and Takeaways:

We run bespoke programmes tailoring the learning outcomes to your specific requirements. We have positioned programmes in the past around:

  • Leadership using various Leadership Models (e.g. Emotional Intelligence, Match -Pace – Lead, Connected Leadership)
  • Personal Leadership (e.g. Insights, Strength Deployment Inventory)
  • Leadership Presence and Impact (e.g. Somatic Coaching)
  • The Stance of a Coach
  • And numerous others.

We like to work with the chairman to explore the developmental edge for his/her members and work with them there.

Whatever the programme you will have the opportunity to experience the power of the energetic connection between two beings, and as a licensed HeartMath Coach and Trainer, we are able to explain the science behind that connection and teach you how to replicate it so you can create deep and authentic rapport with yourself and others. And you will receive unbiased feedback about how another being (who has no agenda) experiences you. We are confident you will learn something about yourself you didn’t know when you arrived in the morning and go home with a smile on your face!
