Simon Iredale (NEW)

I have spent nearly 20 years in the digital world, building my first website in 1998, moving swiftly to work for a London based top 10 agency called Tableau at the dawn of the internet. We were lucky enough to win the pitch for a savvy entrepreneur called Stelios who had a dream of launching a ticketless, web based airline to the world. “You want me to get on a plane with no ticket? Are you mad?!” It was a tough sell, but Stelios had the vision and the funds to make it work.

Following on from this, we won the job to build the very first TESCO’s commerce website when people thought it was crazy to buy your food online. Our remit was simple, get people to a pack of peas in two clicks… I remember in one of the early home delivery tests I ordered two pieces of cod for my dinner, the guy turned up with two whole cod, head, fins and tail. Suffice to say it needed a little refining.

I was then headhunted to be the Online Creative Director at Sony Music Europe, I actually wasn’t allowed to use that title as the Sony board didn’t like the world Director in my title, so they renamed me New Media Manager… I was flown around Europe convincing the divisions that this thing called streaming and digital downloads would be a threat and we needed to take serious notice of it. It was met with a ton of resistance. I spent the next fourteen years working with hundreds of brands helping them meet the challenges of digital, to make sense of the digital word and how to capitalise on the power that digital gives us. Having worked with start ups and billion dollar organisations, I have been obsessed with the reasons behind why people buy certain products and why people choose certain brands, I have studied the psychology of marketing and the emotions that go behind the purchase all to better educate myself and what I deliver to my valued clients. I run a very successful digital agency and app business now in the North of England on top of that we are also about to launch our very own marketing automation software to the world.

I strive to understand and predict what will be happening for our clients in the future, what we need to put in place to ensure we are well prepared for what the always on world throws at us. I love sharing my research and findings with people, small groups and large keynote groups, I have a passion for public speaking, I have spent 35 years in my ‘other life’ on stage singing and playing guitar so being in front of an audience is my most comfortable place. I love sharing valuable insights and content that directly impact on companies helping them deliver better value and trust to their consumers.

In my spare time as well as being on stage I love spending time with my family in the Lake District where we have a holiday caravan, we go speedboating on the lake and spend far too much time in the local pubs.
