Power + Agility = Prosperity

Prosperity comes from getting what you want and protecting what you get, in business and in life, and integrating your definitions of success and happiness. These days that demands a combination of power and agility.  Power without agility is not enough.  Agility without power is not enough.  We need an “and” proposition of both.

  • Integrating Your Definitions of Success & Happiness

Are you choosing your future or is your future choosing you?

With power and agility we can choose our future.  Without, our future chooses us, and we take the risk that it won’t be pretty. Part of choosing is to understand our definition of prosperity, as an integration of success and happiness.  In their book, “Playing to Win – choosing growth over fear in work and life”, Larry & Hersch Wilson say:

“What we want, it seems, is happiness or emotional security.  What we believe (and advertising reinforces this belief every waking minute of our lives) is that we can get that feeling by becoming successful – if we were successful, we would get the feelings we were after – fulfillment, happiness and emotional security. Success is fine; making money is usually a good thing.  But the truth that we all discover, sooner or later, is that there is no direct and automatic correlation between success and the feelings of joy, happiness, and emotional security we crave.  Success rarely creates the feelings we want.  Being successful seemingly always involves being measures against others.  Fulfillment, unlike success, is largely defined by internal measures, by how we feel about what we’re doing or have done.  You cannot find fulfillment by chasing success, by working harder, by running faster. If success is getting what you want, happiness is wanting what you have.”

To be choosing our future we need to tap into our power and agility like never before. Agility comes from developing the new strengths, understandings and intelligences required.  When there is less and less we can count on these days with any certainty, we must be able to cope more and more on our agility to cope no matter what.  2010 Vistage Resource Speaker of the year, Boaz Rauchwerger says, “Power comes from understanding and tapping into our sources of personal, professional, team, organizational and business power, as an integrated whole”.

Make no mistake about it these days.  Power without agility is not enough.  Agility without power is not enough.  We need an “and” proposition of both. To find out how, visit www.prosperitysummits.com.
